Financial Friday

These are the last days to send in your ballots, if you are absentee voting like we are. Do some research to solidify who and what you will be voting for, here is a quick snapshot that's appropriate.

In the spirit of Financial Friday I thought some charts would be interesting to reveal our concurrence of the issues. I saw a poll that was interesting and just re-posted the charts here for mere convenience purposes. These charts are interesting to see how people feel about our current plight.

What I found really interesting is the tyrannical agenda of a "certain group" revealed in the chart named "The Federal Government operates best when one political party controls both the Congress and the White House." This is the same group that is more employed by the government then the other groups and feels that the Federal deficit is not that big of an issue. Murdering of a country is consistent with murdering of babies after all.

<sarcasm> What a shocker.</sarcasm>

Also, apparently according to the charts, as you get older you get smarter. That sure is logically consistent also.

Restore sanity and vote accordingly, but vote never the less. Like Colbert said "If you are a Democrat, vote this Wednesday"

Our Budget

What is the most pressing issue currently facing the U.S.?

Are you financially better off today than you were a year ago?

I would consider voting for a Tea Party endorsed candidate

The taxpayer bailout of General Motors & Chrysler was the correct thing to do

The $787 billion stimulus helped the economy

I want to see the Healthcare Reform Bill repealed

  1.      I certainly agree that people should do research before they vote. But your blog isn't it. Incidentally, the Republican party also think its best when one party controls both Congress and the White House -- as long as the Republican party is in control. I would also suggest that the frequent use of the term "RINO" gives reason to believe that the Republican party does not support independent thought. (Vote the party line on 99 percent of the issues but go against it on the other 1 percent and you are supposedly Republican In Name Only.)
All that said, it is quite likely that the Republicans will gain seats in Congress this election. And, given that a Democrat controls the White House, that may be a good thing. I, personally, would prefer that they are never controlled by the same party. But that seems to be too much to ask.

  3. Btw Dan this is completely off-topic but I want to get a Christian's opinion on this. Is all sin equal? That is to say, is breaking the 3rd commandment as sinful as breaking the 6th?

  4. Brummer,

    >>Btw Dan this is completely off-topic but I want to get a Christian's opinion on this. Is all sin equal? That is to say, is breaking the 3rd commandment as sinful as breaking the 6th?

Yes and no. Actually you are breaking many Commandments when you lie, for example.

"By lying you violate the 5th, (by dishonoring your parents by lying) the 9th, the 2nd (created a god to suite yourself), and the 1st Commandment. (Didn't put God first)

When you steal you violate the 5th, the 8th, the 2nd, and the 1st Commandments."

Breaking the 6th violates the 5th, the 8th, the 2nd, and the 1st Commandments and depending on the reason maybe even the 10th Commandment.

If you mean in order of importance then one only has to look at the very top of the list which is the very first Commandment. That is the most important one. (Mark 12:29-31)

If you are asking if using God's name as a cuss word is worse then murdering a person then I would say yes to that. My next question to you is to ask if you are in the judges seat or is God? If you then its all subjective and a variable, if God then its absolute, objective, and the standard.

  6.      "if [some god] then its absolute, objective, and the standard."
Not at all. It may be a "standard." But any arbitrary capricious judge could act as a "standard." It doesn't make it good. Your god, as per your description, is concerned with his vanity first and foremost. I must judge him as I would any other sentient being. And so I must conclude that he is wicked.
Remember, if you just assume your god to be good, you could easily be serving evil. It is only fitting to look at the described actions and commands and use those to make a judgment about whether or not your god is good. I will go even further. Anyone who uses the vague expression "morally sufficient reason" without producing such a reason knowingly follows evil. Such a person does not believe that said reason exists.

  7. Pvb,

    >>Remember, if you just assume your god to be good, you could easily be serving evil.

You see more evidence that your worldview is absurd. Case in point, who ever has read Jesus' words in the Bible and claim that He is evil is absurd. Its just not true, logical, or sane. You want to believe when you read the words of Christ are evil but we ALL know that is not true. Jesus is good is objectively true, its absolutely true. Like all crack addicts that believe evil people are in the bushes watching them, you are insane.

You believe people are in the bushes watching you?
I did not single out the depiction of Jesus within the bible. After all, any apparent goodness to that could simply be the bait to a trap. Or is it your assertion that no spiritual entities use bait for traps? No the ordered genocides, when your old testament version had the followers he needed, are probably more indicative of the character.
