Penn Jillette's Greatest Disappearing Act Yet!

Sye TenBruggencate Challenges Atheist Illusionist Penn Jillette

The problem is that Penn is a no show! He disappeared in a puff of smoke... of excuses.

Penn was quoted saying,
“I’m not trained in debate. It’s turning conversation into competition. And they misrepresented me.”
and
“I couldn’t get through their talking, they misrepresented things and saw things as a battle and not quest for truth.”
So Penn is running away from even having a simple lunch with our friend Sye. We understand why he is doing the mental equivalent of closing his eyes, putting his fingers in his ears, and going “La la la la la la…!”

Poof, he disappeared. He is waiting for the applause back stage, and yet its strangely quiet. I guess he is just an illusion of an intellectual. I just knew it was only smoke and mirrors.

5 spleen-ventings:

  1. >>So Penn is running away from even having a simple lunch with our friend Sye.

You cannot run away from something that you never agreed to in the first place. Men like Sye TenBruggencate have no accomplishments or notoriety outside their little social bubbles (in this case apologetics) and so they challenge mainstream celebrities purely for the opportunity to make their name more widely known.

Why should Penn or anyone else with celebrity status waste time with a charlatan who is looking to make a name for himself in the mainstream? His craving for attention is so great that he even tried to use Penn's disinterest to his advantage. I think it's pretty pathetic.

    >>We understand why he is doing the mental equivalent of closing his eyes, putting his fingers in his ears, and going “La la la la la la…!”

I'm sure you need the self-importance that comes with this sort of delusion.

    >>Poof, he disappeared. He is waiting for the applause back stage, and yet its strangely quiet. I guess he is just an illusion of an intellectual. I just knew it was only smoke and mirrors.

An intellectual wouldn't claim to know that god exists, or offer proof.

  2. Stephen Law and Paul Baird have already dealt with circular Sye.

    Why should Penn bother?

  3. Hmmm...so it appears that Dan is no longer satisfied with Paul having debated Sye 3 times then.

  4. Dan:

The claim of not being skilled at debate is quite valid. Some people lack that skill. On the other hand, if you were to show that he usually does debate people but is avoiding giving "too much attention" to the christian perspective, then you have a legitimate gripe.
