I didn't think it was a competition. That being said, including this one, we have had 9,659 comments here. I guess the people at s.m.r.t. (some more retarded thoughts) complain about their life a whole lot more, or about Christians. Kind of like a bitchy sewing circle, huh?
Anyway, seeing that SMRT started way, way, after I did that is a staggering comment total...if accurate that is.
I looked at a marketing website that calculates the worth of your website based on traffic (I think) and Debunking Atheists appears to have more substance then the hot air over at S.M.R.T.
I guess that is just another example of an Atheist being Debunked.
The 30,000 is unique visits, despite your refresh claim. I found out it was counting myself also, so at around 100 visits I took myself out of the count. So they are indeed many visitors evident by the map. Admittedly, I am humbled by that map. Glory to God.
You cannot dishonestly claim that zero atheists have been debunked on various subjects here.
In reflection, I started this experiment first because I was getting kicked off every atheists blog known to man and second as a cover to witness to atheists and get to know them to figure out why they couldn't logically, with common sense, believe in the truth. Well after these couple of years I did get my answers. Kind of like the heroine addict that will steal your wallet and help you look for it, they lie to themselves about the truth more then anything.
I guess, like any subject, the presuppositions and worldview of someone will determine the viewpoint on any given subject. As far as my presuppositions there certainly has been, on so many occasions, many Debunked Atheists. But from the perspective of that heroine addict that believes they do not have a problem (the Atheist), no one has been debunked.
I am reaching a crossroad though. I cannot help to think of 2 Corinthians 6:14 and James 4:4 while conducting this experiment. Instead of convincing Atheists in understanding, conversions, and repentance all I have managed to do is befriend some atheists. "whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God" Preach the word, is indeed, our instructions. Maybe I need to focus on that more. I need to study and pray more about such thoughts.
Excuse me for being angry. I broke my cardinal rule and failed to copy the text of my response prior to sending it, and, of course, that was when Blogger chose to fail to accept the submitted comment...
Ah, well.
Anyway, if you're not having a contest, why do you compare DA with SMRT on your silly marketing site? You must know that the metrics it shows are horribly inaccurate, so what is your intention?
The actual URL for SMRT is wearesmrt.com/bb/, but your marketing site does not consider subdirectories. Since the site's top index page is a placeholder with little to no direct links to it, it is no wonder that it is not considered of value. The forum, however, is another story entirely.
If this blog has mustered ~10,000 comments, you're welcome. As for SMRT, in two subforums, "The SMRT Religion Project," and "Living Waters & Way of the Master," there are over 11,000 posts (comments). It's understandable, though, since SMRT is a community of independent minds, whereas DA is a monument to one man's inability to reason... Or something like that.
As for "unique visits," that metric is wholly inaccurate. It does not track actual unique persons who might stumble across your humble blog, but the number of unique public IP addresses which access it. It may even pad that by only remembering individual IP addresses for a specified period of time, after which it would assume the address had a new owner.
I had written a lengthy explanation in my original comment, but suffice it to say that counting an IP address as a "unique visit" is like reading your caller ID log and counting only the unique phone numbers. When my wife calls me, for instance, she may do so from one of her workplace's four unique phone lines, from her cell, from her friend's house, from her sister's house, etc., and while technically each of those is a "unique" phone number, they do not correspond to unique callers. With computers and IP addresses, this is all the more worthless a metric, since the computer's "phone number" -- its public IP address -- changes at the whims of the ISP. My DSL provider, as an example, changes my IP address daily or more, for some annoying and unnecessary reason. Of course, when I take my laptop to school, I'll draw a new public IP, as when I visit Starbuck's, or when I'm early picking up my children from school (the school has a public hotspot), etc.
So no, you don't have 30,000 "unique visitors," and you may not even have 30,000 unique IP addresses.
But it's not a competition.
You cannot dishonestly claim that zero atheists have been debunked on various subjects here.
I absolutely agree, Dan.
Kind of like the heroine addict that will steal your wallet and help you look for it, they lie to themselves about the truth more then anything.
You mean, kind of like the god who creates you as a sinner destined for eternal torment in hell, but 'helps' you escape to heaven (if you're one of the elect)?
Yeah, you lie to yourself quite a bit...
As to your 'dilemma,' I seem to recall a story about a young Jesus having lengthy discussions with the scholars of the time, and I seem to recall stories about an older Jesus fraternizing not with the righteous, but with the lowliest of sinners...
So get out of your tree, little man, and hang with us. We mean to dine with you this day.

P.S. -- I'm still waiting for you to answer the question regarding the Treaty of Tripoli statement and your claim that the U.S. Constitution was founded on Christian principles, by Christians...
Here is a perfect example of your fractured logic:
"I looked at a marketing website that calculates the worth of your website based on traffic (I think) and Debunking Atheists appears to have more substance then the hot air over at S.M.R.T. I guess that is just another example of an Atheist being Debunked."
So, you looked at a website that calculates the worth based on traffic and from that you decide that you have more substance than SMRT? Now, knowing SMRT has three times the comments, just how do you reach the conclusion that you have more substance? Please tell us how you bridged that absurd gap. This is the type of crap you pull all the time. Man, you need to come up for air lil buddy.
Dan, "all I have managed to do is befriend some atheists. "whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God" Preach the word, is indeed, our instructions."
Oh yeah! You don't want to befriend any of those slimer atheists. Just crawl further back into that cave of ignorance and keep your wife pregnant for another ten years.
"You cannot dishonestly claim that zero atheists have been debunked on various subjects here." Quite true. Any such claim would be honest. In order to make the claim dishonestly, one would have to believe that some atheists had actually been debunked. (That was probably a "Freudian slip.") "I looked at a marketing website that calculates the worth of your website based on traffic (I think) and Debunking Atheists appears to have more substance then the hot air over at S.M.R.T." You have chosen a rather awkward measure of "substance." A marketing website generally measures how well a site "sells." And, let's face facts, fluff sells.
Hey Dan. While I was commenting on your latest post, the one after this one, you pulled it. I will honor your decision and not disclose what it was, but I have to say, it makes me wonder about your motivations.
Too bad our lunch didn't work out. Maybe next year.
Did I really say "You cannot dishonestly claim..."?
Wow, I surprise myself sometimes. Anyway I guess I cannot claim it was getting late since I made the comment mid day. My public education is quite lacking sometimes. I fully admit that I may have been debunked myself a few times...rats!
The marketing website that I linked to was my version of humor. I am in no competition with S.M.R.T or DC or porn. The Bible says those subjects will all win popularity over my subjects in this near future anyway. Plus, there would definitely be more "substance" produced from those porn websites instead of my blog. There is more DNA "substance" then a CSI marathon. :7)
Sorry about the post, after doing it, I thought of a better title and changed it. It has a better sting/ring to it, don't you agree?
I cannot believe you are back home already. Did you meet up with Dani'El or Kaitlyn? I hope your trip was memorable in such a destroyed city. (sorry Dani'El)
Patty was doing 100 hour weeks so it was quite impossible at the time. Things might slow down here soon so she can take a break from everything. She will be taking 7 days off for our birthday/anniversary to meet our "new addition" in August. Wish it could of been around then. I will just say God willing, for next time. Glad your trips were safe. We still have time for you... :7)
Dan- no, I didn't get to lunch with Dani'el or Kaitlyn either. I did have a great time in the U.S. of A. though. If you provoke me, I'll show you photos. I'm glad to be living in Europe, but I do miss America and Americans.
I'd still like to meet you, and of course I understand your not having time for lunch. C'est la guerre. Maybe next time.
I'll comment on the following post of yours there.
"Did I really say 'You cannot dishonestly claim...'?" Yes, you really said that. And, unless you do not know what the phrase means, it is dishonest to blame your usage on your education or lack of same. I, quite frankly, am tired of things best described as "whoops, I tripped; must be my public education."
Perhaps you could do a post where you link to the specific comments on previous posts where you have debunked an atheist. I would be interested to see how many times this has actually happened. We could then semi-quantify the success of your blog by dividing the successful debunkings by the total comments.
Pretty much every single blog post debunks atheists. There are exceptions, but they are rare.
Now I fully understand that Atheists believe that they, in fact, have debunked Christians every time here, but that is merely the viewpoint that they will hold due to their worldviews.
This is what presuppositions do to people. They believe wholeheartedly that they are correct no matter what the evidence says to the contrary. Truth is on my side and I will keep plugging until that day when God changes your hearts (1 Peter 2:15-16)
I hope you don't mind; but I have decided to correct your quote, so that it is factually accurate. "Pretty much every single blog post debunks [the very idea of Jesus.] There are exceptions, but they are rare." There is no need to thank me. I am sure that it was an honest mistake on your part.
...not one of whom has yet seen an atheist here debunked.
ReplyDelete(Of course, there's been plenty of debunking, but unfortunately for Dan, it's all been done to him -- or to his position -- rather than by him.)

Why do you always try to inflate stuff?
SMRT just hit 28,000 actual comments and we do at least ten times more than you do here.

28266 right now.
