Pity For The Hellbound?

P1. "The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity." ~ Psalm 14:1

P2. "I pity the fool!" ~ Mr. T

P3. "God hates the guilty unrepentant sinners." (Psalm 5:5, Psalm 11:5, Lev. 20:23, Proverbs 6:16-19, Hosea 9:15) ~ Me, Christian

P4. "Pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent." ~ Ayn Rand, Atheist

P5. Jesus is innocent. (1 Peter 1:19)

The logical conclusion is... No

  1. Wow. Dan juxtaposes quotations from the Bible, a fictional character and a mediocre writer, capitalist groupie and wannabe serious philosopher, all in the one weird (and fruitless) attempt to make a point about his lack of Christian care for the potentially damned. Do these quotations support each other and amount to a coherent argument? Who cares? Logic is only as valid as its premises.

What we can see from this is that Dan has rejected his evolutionary human heritage (and Christian principle) of sharing and reciprocal care for one's fellows, and adopted Rand's rampant individualism and abandonment of those who don't share the same ideology.

Not to mention the fact that the company he keeps here hardly lends credence to his claims of Biblical veracity...

  2. If anything, Dan, I pity you for relegating this life - from all indications, the only one we get - to a proving ground for an afterlife that has never been demonstrated to exist. What a waste of energy and resources and enjoyment, when you could be appreciating what you have while you have it.

  3. Let alone teaching his children to do the same...

  4. And people want to be Christians...why? What a horrible way of looking at your fellow humans. This just proves that there are segments of Christinaity whose followers have been hardened by their religion.

  5. Job 21:3 Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

Prov 14:9 Fools make a mock at sin:

2 Chr 36:16 .. they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

    Prov 1:26-30 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

    Dan-
ever heard the old sermon "Payday Someday"? It's great!

I find it surprising that anyone would consider such a being as that description to be anything but evil.

  7. From 1984,

"Crimestop means the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments if they are inimical to Ingsoc, and of being bored or repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a heretical direction. Crimestop, in short, means protective stupidity."

I accuse you, Dan, of using Crimestop to maintain your belief in god against every shred of evidence

  8. This understanding of god seems to reflect the fact that things didn't always go well for the ancient Hebrews, nor for people in general, presumably. The problem is that there was a degree of fatalism involved, and a belief that it was fine to accept bad shit happening if you could lay it at the feet of a god you could never hope to challenge.

I guess this was reflected in the Christian precept of turning the other cheek - something that is at root destructive to the natural, reciprocal nature of human relationships.

Perhaps the ancients just conceived their god as a big, powerful guy who could do whatever he wanted, and was too strong to challenge or resist - so it became 'righteous' to just accept one's lot in life.

Opium of the masses, anyone? Or is that just learned helplessness?

    Pure evil.

  10. If Hell is full of co-operating peacefull left wing hippies and Heaven is full of right wing, war mongering, murdering (sorry captial punishment) Hilters.

I would prefer Hell. No need to pity me.

It funny how the right wing claim to follow Christian values, when Christ himself was clearly left wing. Actully one could claim that Jesus invented the left wing.

  13. Pvb,

Aww you were on a role. Keep quoting...

"For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices" ~ Proverbs 1:29-31

That is, after all, the real meat of the matter. Good verses to show my point though. Thanks

  14. Cakacolbasa,

    >>I accuse you, Dan, of using Crimestop

I really do not stop short, at all, as God is well aware. I cannot stand the thought of my own children in Hell if they so choose. That just may be the case though (Highly improbable, but possible). I cannot imagine a place that is called Heaven where my kid is burning in hell. But I trust God in all of that. If I am ever faced with that moment I am sure it will be more disappointment for the rebellious on that day, instead of pity that is.

    >>to maintain your belief in god against every shred of evidence

That is where you go astray. There is plenty of evidence. Just non that you accept. Remember, assuming that the Bible is not evidence for God because you do not believe God exists, is question begging.

Many of the guilty blame others for their problems. Like, as a mere example, blaming Asians because they're "overrunning our cities", huh Cakacolbasa? :7)

    Time to Man Up!

  15. DD,

    >>Opium of the masses, anyone?

An atheistic worldview quoting Karl Marx to support their position? Shocker!

    >>Or is that just learned helplessness?

Their may be some truth to that. The elephant as a baby (milk) has a huge chain on its neck. By the time that elephant is an adult, (meat) there only needs to be a small rope or string to keep that elephant tied to the post. God is placing that huge chain (Hell) on your neck and you are fighting it tooth and nail, like I once did. Now, I accept that "chain" and only require a mere thread of dental floss for me to keep me away from Hell. Also, I hope you are not claiming that you can 'avoid' the consequences of the path that you chose. You need to understand and lean your own helplessness. One cannot fight death, its inevitable.

No I haven't so I am watching it now. Seems very appropriate for this post.

Thanks and blessing for that one!

  17. Ray sent this to me. Look at this guy who drove his truck off the road.

    Truck Crash

The driver broke through the guard rail (top right), flipped his truck, and landed on the left side of the drain. There's no big deal, until you see the whole picture...

    Death Averted

This Utah driver missed plunging over a 200-foot precipice by a mere 12 inches. Knowing what you have been saved from increases gratitude. Explode your gratitude--listen to "Hell's Best Kept Secret." You will never be the same...

I agree, my gratitude is so much more now.

But I notice you have nothing to say against it...

You do understand that learned helplessness is a negative, potentially debilitating and even soul-destroying condition, don't you, Dan? And that's how you recommend people live. Great religion you have there.

  20. I shouldn't be at all surprised that Dan is an antilibertarian champion of the victim mentality. His religion teaches that we are depraved, ineffectual scum crawling on the face of a fallen world, unable to help ourselves without divine intervention. It's the ultimate abdication of personal responsibility.

Excuses or not, a being who mocks and laughs at someone's calamity is not good.

  22. D.A.N,

That empty threat of yours is supposed to scare us, the atheists, so we can finally repent and turn to your god?
    If so, you're failing miserably...

  23. I don't understand why you wouldn't pity the "ebil sinners" I mean doesn't Jesus say to love the sinner, I get that whole I'm gonna warn you stuff but if they're supposed to love the Sinner why not pity them? Do you have no empathy Dan?

I did meet a man who thought like this on my way to my mundane job
He called me and I quote "whore of Santan" so a lovely bloke *sarcasm*

If you do not pity hellbound sinners does this make you refrain from helping them while they are alive? (No I don't mean the Xtian version of helping/warning/hating them)

  24. oops I meant to say he called me a "whore of Satan"
