Not in Vain

I thought this was appropriate for today:

Quasar said...

Ray! Thank you!

I finally get it! I understand what I was doing wrong all these years!

I finally decided to give it a shot, I tried with all my heart to hear the LORD Jesus Christ: I knelt on the ground, accepted that I was a guilty sinner, and asked him to help me AND HE DID!

It was the most amazing, indescribable experience of my life! I can no longer hold any doubt about His existance: it's as self-evident as the SUN! He just is!

Thank you Ray, for bringing me to Jesus! I thank the LORD for your work and your ministry!

I believe!

  1. Dan,

    Quasar said,

    "April Fools!"

    So, I guess, in vain.

  2. So, Dan, when does the debunking start again? Have you proved that your own god exists yet?

  3. I'm sold.

I'd be interested to see some real statistics as to how many people - if any - Ray has converted in his life. I expect my right hand will feel left out when it comes to counting them all.

Incidentally, have you seen what Roy Cozy's been up to on my blog? :P

  4. Clos,

I see that Quasar did say "April fool" but I don't believe all of this is in vain though.

Atheists has been debunked forever, haven't you heard?

Ray doesn't have the statistics of who gets saved through his ministry. The records are in the Book of Life and we don't have access to it at the moment.

The criteria shouldn't be how many "decisions" we obtain, but are we evangelizing biblically? Unbiblical evangelism boasts multitudes of decisions for Jesus, who sit in church without the fruits that accompany salvation.

"Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire."

    -Revelation 20:11-15

  7. Hey, John Rhue
Muslims have been debunked forever, its called the Book of Mormon, didn't you hear?

    (Note: not Mormon)

  8. And the dead were judged according to their works,

    Works not faith.

I heard someone claim that. But it just wasn't true. Indeed, you were unable to respond to the critiquing comment. I must conclude that you consider attempts to debunk atheists to be futile and nothing but vanity.

Shouldn't it be both? Surely to some extent it's a war of attrition. You obviously do care about the number of souls you think you're saving, otherwise you wouldn't use the internet as a platform to deliver your message. You've opened up your evangelizing to greater criticism and dilution by using the open forum of the internet, so at some point Ray must have decided that it was worthwhile in order to reach a larger audience.

  11. I second Chris Mackey...

And the dead were judged according to their works

And they were judged, each one according to his works.

Now I'll probably be accused of not applying proper hermeneutics, but I would interpret those phrases as meaning that God judges each person on what they did in their life, not on whether they had faith.

If you're a good person, kick back on a cloud and enjoy the view...

  12. I should have warned you, Dan has a real problem with correctly identifying April Fool's jokes.

  13. By the way, speaking of Ray's book: Matt Dillahunty and I are both reading and enjoying it immensely. We are planning to do a show together, either Non-Prophets or Atheist Experience, to discuss it in detail in the near future. Stay tuned for details!

Sorry Dan, but that's kind of funny.

By the way, speaking of Ray's book: Matt Dillahunty and I are both reading and enjoying it immensely.

Judging by the book's title, it seems that Ray's thinking is informed entirely by Bible verses and clichés. Which is to say, just clichés.

  15. Trish,

Wow, Trish at my blog? Thanks for your comments and welcome. Give Ray and crew a big hug for me. The atheists that peruse this blog could use a good slapping of logic that you often give to non-believers. :) Blessings.

    Kazim,

Dan has a real problem with correctly identifying April Fool's jokes.

Aw come on. I knew full well it was a joke both times, back then I just took full advantage of it. Martin would normally have moderated my comments so I felt it was my only chance to get a good Bible thumping in. Good times though.

Sorry I am in and out of here but I am getting the house ready for the swarms of people coming for our photo shoot with that magazine. No time to discuss the impending doom for the atheists right now.

Yeah. Gotta keep your priorities straight, huh Dan?

Well, if unbiblical evangelism boasts lots of converts, then I can pretty much guarantee that Ray's evangelism--at least on his blog--is very Biblical. So far, after something like 18 months of blogging, his atheist conversion rate is---zero.
