Where do atheists congregate and feel at home?

Click on the picture above to see where atheists are concentrated. Since the United States have the least percentage of fractious atheists, I figured I would help them out. Atheists can use this as a guide to moving. They would indeed feel welcomed more, someplace else. It appears that Japan or Vietnam would welcome atheists with open arms, so pack your bags and move to a more God forsaken country, such as these. Keep in mind that the kids in Japan mostly worship American culture so you might feel homesick there.

Tạm biệt (goodbye in Vietnamese)

  1. Why on earth would I want to move to another country just to be an atheist? Geeeez...where else can you find denizens of the 21st century who still communicate telepathically with a an imaginary friend? Move??? Sweden??? Japan??? I would be bored stiff. I LOVE religious nutballs, including my senile grandmother who talks to Jesus, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Padre Pio, Marilyn Monroe, JFK, Napoleon....pssst, and they all respond! U.S.A. is NUMBER ONE!!!

    Proud American Atheist!

  2. I thought that you might want to be around like minded individuals, such as the people in Vietnam. Too bad the Soviet Union isn't still around, they hated Christianity.

"I LOVE religious nutballs, including my senile grandmother who talks to Jesus, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Padre Pio, Marilyn Monroe, JFK, Napoleon....pssst, and they all respond!"

So are you claiming that all Christians are like your grandmother or are you talking about crazy nutball "radical christians" (I call them false converts) or any Christian?

I wasn't expecting anyone to move, it was sarcasm. Besides, we "Christian Soldiers" fought for your right to be free here in the US.

Please allow me to intrude by asking what made you have a belief in 'no God'? Was it a trigger or an epiphany? What did your conscience go through before that moment?

  4. Quasar,

That chart is hilarious, basically claiming retardation to the saved. Well if true then put a helmet on me.

OF course it was Sarcasm, Unlike the chart I offered, because that same website you offered walks you through how to make your own Mind orbit?

    Thanks for the laugh

  5. I agree with you, parts of that site are either insane or satire (I'm not sure which).

It's a good thing the statistics on that page are from two seperate and independant surveys, which the hypnosis site provides a good amount of data from.

It's also interesting that it correlates well with your graph: highly atheist contries like Japan and Denmark have fairly high IQ's (105 and 102).

I actually quite like statistics like this: you can't help but notice trends. For example, the contries on your graph with the fewest percentage of atheists tend to be in conflict and/or turmoil, or have a history of conflict an/or turmoil. Lends credence to the saying "There are no atheists in foxholes".

In comparison, the majority of highly atheist countries... Sweden, Denmark, Norway... all seem to be fairly peaceful places...

  6. you are delusional or naive, I will give you the latter so let me educate you a little. I retrieved this data from a report called: How Many People has Religion Killed?

"According to University of Hawaii political scientist Rudolph J. Rummel,[1] <#_ftn1> the total number killed in all of human history is estimated to be about 284,638,000. Of that number, 151,491,000 were killed during the past 100 years. The single largest killer in all of human history is, by far, atheistic Communism with a total of 110,000,000 … over 1/3 of all people ever killed! If we add to that number just two other regimes where religion of any sort was strongly discouraged, Nazi Germany and Nationalist China, the number rises to 141,160,000. Almost 50% of all the killings in human history were committed in the past 100 years by regimes that either actively promoted atheism or strongly discouraged religion. We have not considered the over one billion abortions, where Christianity seems to be particularly unwelcome. When the murders of history are tallied up, it is very clear that atheism is the most dangerous philosophy ever embraced by humanity. The most effective restraint on mankind's inherently evil tendencies is faith in God through Jesus Christ, a faith that actually follows the teachings and commands of Jesus Christ as a daily way of life." (emphasis added)

Your charts don't give my friend. You are more then welcome to trust that insane, as you called it, website if you wish.

  7. [Y]ou are delusional or naive

    ...and you are both.

First, your 20th century statistics are just that -- 20th century statistics. They make no claim regarding past instances of genocide.

Second, the numbers selected suffer a huge margin of error -- in the case of China, he states somewhere between ~6 million and ~103 million murders, with the suspected number at ~35 million. To use such numbers as somehow definitive is a joke.

Third, and most importantly, the subject of religion is not once encountered in the original article -- it is instead a look at democracy versus totalitarianism. The mistake you are currently making is one which apologists make on a regular basis: attributing the ideology of atheist power-mongers to Atheism.

There is no atheist dogma or set of doctrines which details how an atheist should live.

Only religion details appropriate behavior for its adherents in such a manner.

Obviously, the oft-used cases of the Crusades, the Inquisition, etc., pale in comparison to the efficiency of murderous regimes such as Stalin, Hitler, et al, but they did not act according to a specific doctrine. The perpetrators of the Crusades and the Inquisition, on the other hand, were quite obviously behaving based on their interpretation of the bible.

(Of course, there is some debate as to Hitler's motivations -- many claim that he was, indeed, religiously motivated by Christianity, but I think we can all agree that his real problem was that he was insane.)

Another thing apologists ignore (out of convenience, no doubt) is the fact that if the zealous jackasses of the Crusades, the Inquisition, and even the Israelites in biblical accounts had access to anything approaching 20th century weaponry, they would most certainly have used it, and the numbers of their murders would have grown as a result. Of course, the statistics you cited were only possible because of the global population at the time -- another limitation imposed on the genocidal efforts of Christians past. They couldn't very well murder a hundred million people if that number didn't exist within their sphere of influence (read: a few thousand mile radius). We can rest assured that if they could have, though, they certainly would have.

None of this, though, escapes the final sad truth that you would provide these atheists with the excuse that they had no moral code to follow. Your Christian predecessors, on the other hand, did have one, ambiguous as it may have been. Despite such unambiguous rules as the Sixth Commandment, they killed en masse, and even with god's blessing, according to the biblical account.

Torture? I think the Inquisition was able even to beat Stalin with this one. To my knowledge, he didn't erect massive implements of torture for public "amusement"...

The numbers don't support the story you tell. Considering the various factors involved, religious zealots have pretty clearly accounted for a greater ratio of murders-to-populace than any non-religious ideology, and clearly the fact that Atheism holds no specific ideology exempts it from the sort of claims that you (and plenty of others) continue to make.

Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, et al didn't murder people because they were atheists (whether they were or not) -- they murdered people because they were assholes. Crusaders, Inquisitors, et al murdered people because they were Christians.

How can we blame them, though, when they were clearly just following god's example? After all, god murdered all of humanity except for eight people, right?

  8. "had access to anything approaching 20th century weaponry, they would most certainly have used it,"

you forgot to add 'like the atheists did' as in [certainly have used it like the atheists did.]

You are hilarious with your logic and presuppositions.

"Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, et al didn't murder people because they were atheists (whether they were or not) -- they murdered people because they were assholes. Crusaders, Inquisitors, et al murdered people because they were Christians."

Just because someone claims a title doesn't mean they are. If a postman blows his coworkers away with a shot gun screaming that he is the pope, would you claim him to be another crazy christian? Don't bother answering that, we get your logic.

Throughout this blog I have been explaining to your thick skull that to be Christian it must bear the fruit of a Christian. If not, then not. Murdering thousands of people isn't the fruit of a Christian not even a professing one. So by proxy they were atheists. So the murderous group that claimed Christianity weren't Christians at all. They were anti-Christians basically they didn't believe in God i.e. ATHEISTS.

Crusaders, Inquisitors, et al murdered people because they were (assholes) who were clueless about God in other words atheists.

  9. I'm beginning to understand.

Only people who exhibit the proper behavior of True Christians™ are in fact worthy of the title of being a Christian -- all others are posers.

Since only True Christians™ are True Theists™, any "false converts", or non-Christians who hold to a different theology, are therefore True Atheists™, whether they are aware of this fact or not.

    And you call me thick-skulled?

Murdering thousands of people isn't the fruit of a Christian not even a professing one. So by proxy they were atheists.

Fine. I'll concede this point. People who orchestrate the murder of thousands of people aren't True Christians™, but they are atheists. The following is my preliminary list of people who therefore must be considered to be atheists "by proxy":

    1. god
    2. Moses
    3. Joshua
    4. Samson
    5. David
    6. Solomon
    7. Elijah

Would you be so kind as to assist? I'll take the Minor Prohets, if you'll take the Major Prophets. You can have the odd Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles, and I'll take the evens of the same.

It's strange. I never realized the bible was such a collection of the works of atheists.

  10. "And you call me thick-skulled?" Yes but that is not claiming I am not (thick-skulled), maybe that's why I enjoy your company. You are a funny man.

"It's strange. I never realized the bible was such a collection of the works of atheists."

You're too smart for me. I give up! I retract the joke I made when I said:

Crusaders, Inquisitors, et al murdered people because they were (assholes) who were clueless about God, in other words atheists.

    I will replace it with:

Crusaders, Inquisitors, et al murdered people because they were assholes who were clueless about God, not Christians.

    Happy?

Although, I can argue that there is two positions that is held according the the New Covenant either you are wicked and saved through God's grace by dying on the cross, taking your punishment for breaking the Law, called Christianity and set free or you are wicked and have to face the punishment yourself for breaking the Law and the punishment, for breaking said Law, is eternity in hell.

Not necessarily labeled atheism but is labeled 'lost'. Insert Amazing Grace here.

Thanks for keeping me honest, funny man Stan.

  11. It is a joke -- you're right about that.

If True Christians™ can be identified by their behavior, and if medium- to large-scale murderers are disqualified as being True Christians™, then my list is accurate. Whether or not we consider those people atheists (obviously tongue-in-cheek, but your absurd statement -- and not the one you quoted, but the more explicit one that I quoted -- required the exposure of its absurd conclusion); whether or not we consider them atheists, then, we cannot consider them True Christians™.

Of course, in the other thread you have implemented a brave ad hoc shift of definition to eliminate the existence of True Christians™ prior to the resurrection of Jesus, but I have exposed (in that thread) that claim as outright fallacy.

In any event, the behavior of the OT shortlist in the category of mass murderers (or orchestrators of mass murder) is certainly not proper behavior of True Keepers of the Old Covenant™. I wonder how many thousands of cattle and sheep were slaughtered in sacrifice following a holy conquest?

As funny as my post was (and if I say so myself, it was delightfully clever), it is also true, if one accepts your version of things.
